Comet McNaught (C/2006 P1)

This spectacular comet, currently reported as the brightest in 40 years, was readily visible from even the heart of downtown Seattle. My images from tuesday and thursday were photos of McNaught in the evening twilight. But after the 12th of January, McNaught stunned most everyone and became a daylight-visible comet!

So two times I set up my gear, as well as my ST-80 80mm refractor hoping to at least get a glimpse of it. But, after about an hour, I had no luck, but as I was doing it I took snapshots where I suspect it was supposed to be. After post-processing, I was excited to find that I did capture the head of McNaught, but no tail. I suspect if I had used a skylight filter I may have had better luck?

I switched between using the Canon EF 70-200mm F4L with and without the 2x tamron teleconvertor.
